Dr. Ramon Santiago pioneered surgical oncology protocols at the Philippine General Hospital, building the first multidisciplinary tumor board in a Philippine public hospital. His research on gastric cancer in the Filipino population has been cited in over 200 international papers. As Chief of Surgery at PGH, he led the department through the transition to minimally invasive techniques, training over 500 surgical residents during his tenure.
